The 15th Annual Greg Noonan Memorial Homebrew Competition, hosted by the Green Mountain Mashers, will take place on Saturday April 25th, 2026 at Queen City Brewery in Burlington, VT.
This competition is BJCP sanctioned and open to any amateur homebrewer age 21 or older.
All mailed entries must be received at the mailing location by the shipping deadline - please allow for shipping time. Entries received after the shipping deadline may or may not be allowed subject to the Organizer’s sole discretion.
Entries left at drop-off locations must have an entry label attached to each bottle by rubber band only and must be dropped off in a suitable container.
- Suitable containers include: 6-pack holders, 12 or 24-bottle cases, larger format bottle boxes.
- Suitable containers DO NOT include: paper bags, plastic bags or no container at all.
The proprietors of drop-off locations reserve the right to refuse entries which are not appropriately labeled and/or contained/boxed. Entries left at drop-off locations will be picked up on the day of the drop-off deadline. Do not attempt to drop off entries after the deadline as they will not be accepted.
All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities or operations, supplies, etc.).
The competition organizers are not responsible for mis-categorized entries, mailed entries that are not received by the entry deadline, or entries that arrived damaged.
Qualified judging of all entries is the primary goal of our event. Judges will evaluate and score each entry. The judges will assign a consensus score which is used to rank each entry in its category. We strive to make sure that each flight will have at least one BJCP judge.
Brewers are limited to a maximum of one entry in each sub-category.
Green Mountain Mashers members receive a discount of $2 per entry when they use the password provided to them. Not a member? Go to https://www.mashers.org/join-renew/ to join and we'll send you the password!
The competition organizers reserve the right to combine styles for judging and to restructure awards as needed depending upon the quantity and quality of entries. All possible effort will be made to combine similar styles. All brews in combined categories will be judged according to the style or sub-style they were originally entered in.
The Best of Show judging will be determined by a Best of Show panel based on a second judging of the top winners.
Bottles will not be returned to entrants.
If you have any questions about the rules, please contact the Organizer.
PLEASE NOTE: Do not enter the Greg Noonan Memorial Homebrew Competition if you believe the competition is part of a circuit. This competition is not associated with the Master Homebrewer Program or any other competition circuit.
ALSO NOTE: The Green Mountain Mashers reserve the right to remove unpaid entries that have been in the system for more than 72 hours in order to make room for other entrants. Please pay for your entries as soon as possible to avoid having them removed.
Entry Acceptance Rules
Each entry will consist of 2 capped or corked bottles that are void of all identifying information, including labels and embossing. Printed caps are allowed, but must be blacked out completely.
12oz brown glass bottles are preferred; however, green and clear glass will be accepted. Swing top bottles will likewise be accepted as well as corked bottles and cans.
Bottles will not be returned to contest entrants.
All requisite paperwork must be submitted with each entry and can be printed directly from this website. Entry paperwork should be attached to bottles by RUBBER BANDS ONLY. Entries received with labels attached using any other method (e.g., tape, glue, etc.) may be excluded from the competition.
Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified. Failure to note such ingredients may impact the judges' scoring of your entry.

Packing and Shipping
Carefully pack your entries in a sturdy box. Line the inside of your carton with a plastic trash bag. Partition and pack each bottle with adequate packaging material. Please do not over pack!
Write clearly: Fragile. This Side Up. on the package. Please only use bubble wrap as your packing material.
Enclose each of your bottle labels in a small zip-top bag before attaching to their respective bottles. This way it makes it possible for the organizer to identify specifically which entry has broken if there is damage during shipment.
Every reasonable effort will be made to contact entrants whose bottles have broken to make arrangements for sending replacement bottles.
Awards
The awards ceremony will take place once judging is completed.
Places will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category or combined category (* see note at bottom).
The 1st place entry in each category or combined category (* see note at bottom) will advance to the Best of Show (BOS) round with a single, overall Best of Show beer selected.
Best of Show contenders will also be eligible for the Brewmaster's Cup. This award is co-sponsored by Vermont Pub & Brewery and Black Flannel Brewing Co. The winner will be chosen by representatives from each brewery and will have the chance to brew a collaboration beer at Black Flannel Brewing Co.**
Additional prizes may be awarded to those winners present at the awards ceremony at the discretion of the competition organizers.
Awards and prizes will be available for pick up during the awards ceremony and scoresheets will be scanned and uploaded to the competition website. Awards not picked up will be mailed to award winners. Results will be posted to the competition web site after the ceremony concludes.
*While entrants should utilize the categories and sub-categories specified in the pull down list on the entry page the organizers reserve the right to combine categories and/or sub-categories into "collapsed/combined" categories and award prizes based on them. Among other reasons the organizers may choose to do this in order to facilitate assignment of available judge resources. So, for example, categories such Czech Pale Lager and Czech Premium Pale Lager may be combined with German Pils and International Pale Lager with 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes awarded based on this combined category.
**The brew date for the winner of the Brewmaster's Cup will be collectively determined by the winning homebrewer, Vermont Pub & Brewery and Black Flannel Brewing Co and will be based on a number of determining factors.
